Fusing Salsa, Afro-Cuban, hip-hop and contemporary dance with theater, compelling text and original music, the company brings physically intense and politically astute experiences to the concert stage. The piece will feature local university dance students as part of a community cast created specifically for the Charlotte Performances.

For the first time ever, and for FREE, Charlotte will see Blue Lapis Light dance company bravely and gracefully perform 15 stories high on the side of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center. Tall Tales on the High Seas, a celebratory adventure for children and families of all ages, is the latest work from Australia’s Strange Fruit. This epic tale, performed atop 16 ft. sway poles, follows the Chaplin-esque antics of three eccentric mariners aboard a vessel which morphs from humble beached boat, to a ship on the high seas.
