Loose Leaves Showcase

When applying to Loose Leaves, Selena Mable Stamp asks choreographers to send videos of their work with their $20 application fee. She watches these only to figure out how to order the event’s program, which according to Selena, draws on its threefold name from the idea of multiple leaves on a tree, loose-leaf paper used to jot down ideas, and loose-leaf tea, a symbol of things brewing.

Loose Leaves Showcase is held biannually, with this year’s second event occurring September 22–23 at the Duke Energy Theater at Spirit Square and includes choreographic works by area independent and university-affiliated artists. Evenings last 90 minutes with an intermission and offer about a dozen pieces. Tickets are sold for $12 through Blumenthal Performing Arts at blumenthalarts.org.
