UNC Charlotte Department of Dance

UNC Charlotte Dance is a supportive, close-knit community offering excellent technical training and performance opportunities and a well-rounded curriculum. We offer BA concentrations in Performance, Choreography, and Theory and Dance Education. A Certificate in Advanced Dance Studies allows for continuing engagement in dance beyond BA requirements. We also offer, by audition, a Certificate program with Charlotte Ballet. We are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance.

UNC Charlotte Dance faculty nurture students and help them find individual pathways in dance. We encourage double majors and offer a professional advisor program. Recent dance graduates perform with professional dance companies in New York and Chicago, travel the world as Latin dance performers and educators, teach in K12 and studio settings, work as arts marketers, and attend graduate schools.

Our students have requirements and options in a broad number of dance techniques and styles (modern, ballet, hiphop, and dance forms from Latin America, India, and the African diaspora). They also study choreography, dance studies (dance history, research, and writing), and anatomy, and can learn digital, community-building, and pedagogical skills important to dancers.
